Tanzania is a fascinating country located in East Africa. It is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain and the Great Lakes of Lake Victoria (Africa's largest lake) and Lake Tanganyika (Africa's deepest lake). Tanzania is probably one of the oldest known continuously inhabited areas on Earth; fossil remains of humans and pre-human hominids have been found dating back over two million years. Today the people of Tanzania are composed of over 120 tribes including the well know Maasai, MaKonde, Nyamwezi and Sukuma all who are basically hunter gathers.

This beautiful bed, hand crafted from a native hardwood, designed with sweeping, sleek lines has been edged carefully with a wide band of deeply etched tribal motif trim. Two handsomely carved ancestor heads protrude high from the top right and left ends ensuring that the person resting is under the protection of the spirits. This Tanzania entry will contest the popularity of Bamoun and Senufo beds in African interior design.
