Batiks are produced in Tanzania by brushing hot liquid wax onto a piece of cotton cloth in the desired pattern. The canvas is then dipped into a dye which adheres to all of the areas that are not covered by the wax. The wax is then removed and reapplied repeated for each color used. This is a tedious time consuming endeavor that yields exceptional art. Animals, village scenes, landscapes, seascapes and abstracts compose much of the subject matter. The colors are natural and brilliant! Our selection can be hung as is or framed.
