The lion is one of the most revered and feared animals in all of Africa. It is thought to be almost supernaturally powerful with attributes that only a king could possess. When confronted they were either held or killed by the king with their remains forever staying with the king from which they were ceremonially passed on from generation to generation. In Cameroon animals that are held in such high regard are granted Royal Court status. Our Cameroon artisan has crafted two such regal figures both from a single piece of native wood. Each has been adorned with studded brass and diamond shaped tin inlays along the body and facial areas. The manes and feet feature deep concise incisions that have been detailed and highlighted in white. They make perfect bookends. The price is for both!
