Virtually all tribes choose to exalt members of their leadership hierarchy whether political, spiritual or militaristic. A chair or stool can be a symbol of such glorification. It is understood to be a seat of great importance, a place of recognized honor and status for the owner. This small hardwood chair has hand cut and hammered tin embellishments along the front trim and seat border. Unique Baule tin caps are at the ends of the seat trimmings and also dot the top back support. 10 wooden spindles, 5 in the front and 5 in the back further enhance the beauty of this well crafted seat. The low seat is reserved for use traditionally by a tribal elder or chief.
